Dental crowns are commonly used in restorative dentistry to restore a tooth’s health, function, and appearance. In the past, when a dental crown was needed, two appointments were required. During the first appointment, the tooth would be prepared and a temporary crown would be placed on the tooth. Then, a second appointment was needed to bond the permanent crown after it had been created in a dental lab. This caused quite the headache and hassle. To simplify dental care while producing high-quality results, we offer same day crowns in New York. Now, you can get the dental restorations you need in just one day.
How is CEREC Different?
There will likely come a time when you will need a dental crown. Crowns are often recommended when a tooth has suffered significant damage or has an abnormal shape that hurts its function and appearance. No matter the reason for the restoration, new advancements in dentistry allow the entire process to receive the restoration to be enhanced.
Traditional dental crowns require you to schedule two appointments. During the first appointment, your tooth is prepared and then impressions are taken of the tooth. Despite impressions being messy and uncomfortable, they are necessary for the dental lab to create the crown. While the dental lab creates the crown, a temporary crown is bonded to the tooth. About two weeks later, if no further adjustments need made to the permanent crown, it is bonded to the tooth.
CEREC resolves the common complaints and discomforts of traditional crowns with a simpler and more convenient process. After your tooth is prepared, 3D images and scans of the tooth are taken to create your crown—not impressions. This is ideal for those who have severely damaged teeth that cannot withstand impressions. The images are then sent to our state-of-the-art software, where we use CAD/CAM technology to create the specifics of your crown. We will customize your crown to ensure it matches the exact size, shape, and color needed to remove any room for error.
Finally, the information is sent to our in-office milling machine. The milling machine will then create your crown from a single block of ceramic material. In about an hour, your new restoration will be ready to be bonded to your tooth. There is no need for a temporary crown or a second appointment. You will have the high-quality restoration you need over your lunch break.
